Rainbow Mountain

Jackson and Charlie were anxious to introduce me to the Rainbow Mountain Trail. With temperatures in the fifties and clear skies predicted, we wanted to get the boys out of the house and Rainbow Mountain sounded like a good idea. Joe had taken the boys a couple of weeks ago on a weekend I was working and the boys had a blast.
Once we started I was surprised at the rockiness of the trail and that Joe had navigated the course with the boys by himself. The views along the trail were very scenic overlooking the city of Madison.
Jackson surprised me at how well he could climb the rocks
and he and Charlie had fun crawling into small caves. Jackson and Charlie were excited to show me the rock slide that they had discovered on the previous trip.
We really enjoyed the trail but after about 2 hours of climbing and walking the boys were starting to get tired, that is until they saw the prize at the end of trail. Once seeing the slides and crawling tunnels, the boys got their second wind and ran enthusiastically to their prize: a playground.
