Charleston Day 1

Our first full day in Charleston we decided to just walk around the town and enjoy the scenery. Charleston is a beautiful city and has such a southern feel. We started out about the time most churches in the downtown area were starting service. We enjoyed hearing the church bells chiming and Joe and I were amazed at the manner in which the gentleman were dressed for church. Even though it was extremely humid, every man that we saw on the way into church was wearing a full suit with a bow tie; I thought it was extremely genteel and Joe said it just looked hot.

We made out way to the coast to White Point Gardens off Battery Street and the boys enjoyed running through the live oaks and chasing squirrels and birds (basically anything that would run) and Joe and I just enjoyed the views.

I was amazed at the beauty of the live oaks and the strength of the low lying limbs, which we used for a photo-op.

Jackson enjoyed the cannons along the bay, which were on display from the Civil War. Of course Jackson wanted to pretend that he was shooting the cannons but needed a bad guy to shoot. Joe was the man.

Then we walked along the boardwalk and Jackson was so excited to see the Pirate giving a tour. He was impressed with the parrot that he was carrying and he kept saying, "That pirate said hello to me!"

In the afternoon, we set out again to tour and the boys decided that touring was a hot job. Charleston has many fountains around the town and the boys decided that they needed to cool off.
